Transformer auxiliary control cabinets can contain monitoring, cooling, alarms, protection interfaces, and local controls associated with a transformer installation. The cabinet scope depends on the transformer type, site design, and responsibilities of the electrical engineer and equipment suppliers.
Define the auxiliary functions
List fans, pumps, temperature devices, gauges, alarms, tap or regulator interfaces, marshalling terminals, communications, and local indications. State whether the cabinet is a standalone auxiliary cabinet, a transformer control cabinet, or part of a wider substation control system.
Record interface data
Request the transformer data, auxiliary voltage, grounding, protection philosophy, control signals, instrument ranges, cable schedule, communication protocol, environment, and access requirements from the project team. Do not infer a protection scheme, voltage, or monitoring capability from the cabinet name.
