Cable management affects wiring access, heat, EMC, labeling, maintenance, and future changes. A panel cable plan should connect the equipment list, terminal plan, cable schedule, enclosure layout, and field interfaces.
Define the cable groups
List power, control, analog, safety, network, shielded, and external cables. Record conductor size, bend radius, entry direction, gland or connector, separation, spare capacity, labeling, and responsibility for field termination.
Review the cabinet layout
Check wireways, rails, terminals, gland plates, door routes, heat sources, grounding or bonding, access, and future expansion. Keep the cable plan aligned with the I/O list, schematic, and as-built record.
