Floor mount electrical enclosures carry the loads wall boxes cannot: larger switchgear groupings, drives, transformers, and control hardware that need a stable base, generous cabling room, and top or bottom entry from cable trenches. What is a Floor Mount Electrical Enclosure ?
Floor mounted NEMA Electrical Enclosures are fully enclosed electrical cabinets with legs that may stand on a flat surface. The legs raise the cabinet, allowing access beneath. Mounting may be as simple as fastening the cabinet legs to the floor, allowing for little sacrifice on cabinet integrity.

A floor-mount electrical enclosure incorporates a variety of components that function in different ways.

1.Single and couple doors.
Floor-mounted electrical enclosures are offered in single or twin enclosure configurations with cabinets.
The double front cabinets include an optional removable center post, which allows for simple access, particularly when installing bulky equipment.
2. Continuous Hinges.
These sturdy and long-lasting hinges are fitted to door enclosures. To swing and open the enclosure doors, there must be enough room to turn. However, it also accommodates all electronic cables, wiring, and other components within.
3. Quarter Turn Latches.

4. Screw clamps.
Screw clamps are the primary medium in a floor-mounted electrical enclosure. This is intended to securely attach the enclosures to the concrete floor and provide robust support.

Does a floor mount enclosure need a special foundation?
A level concrete floor or prepared steel base is normally sufficient — the base plinth distributes the load and carries the fixing points. For multi-bay line-ups we supply base alignment data so the sections join cleanly on site.
Can floor mount enclosures be joined into a lineup?
Yes. Bays are built with matching joining faces and removable cover strips so several cabinets form one continuous suite — standard practice for motor control centers and distribution rows.
Floor mount or free-standing — what is the difference in practice?
The terms largely overlap: our floor mount line emphasizes bolted-down cabinets with base plinths, while free-standing executions focus on self-supporting bodies with removable sides. Selection comes down to anchoring needs, side access, and internal layout — we advise per project.
How is cable entry handled on floor cabinets?
Removable top and bottom gland plates allow site-drilled or pre-machined entries. Tell us the cable schedule and we pre-machine the plates and fit glands before shipping.
