Select capability, not just a catalogue phrase

A control-panel manufacturer should be evaluated against the actual system, documentation, component, enclosure, and service requirements. “Custom” or “industrial” in a company description does not prove compatibility with a particular PLC, drive, standard, environment, or commissioning scope.

Inputs to define before contacting suppliers

Prepare the process narrative, equipment list, motor and drive schedule, I/O list, control voltage, enclosure environment, incoming power, cable entry, drawings, labels, software boundary, inspection, testing, and delivery requirements. This lets each supplier quote the same scope.

Do not treat a certification logo, project image, or product family as proof of the exact scope. Ask for evidence that matches the equipment and location.

Compare quotations consistently

Compare the same I/O count, feeder list, enclosure, component schedule, drawings, testing, packaging, delivery, and exclusions. Identify assumptions around field wiring, software, network integration, site work, and acceptance. A lower price may reflect a narrower responsibility boundary rather than a lower manufacturing cost.
