Free-standing electrical enclosures are the backbone of large control and power assemblies — PLC suites, drive banks, distribution rows, and operator backlines that stand on their own bases and grow bay by bay. With widths from compact single bays to 1800 mm bodies, they house the component density that wall boxes cannot, and open fully at front (and optionally rear) for maintenance.

We manufacture free-standing enclosures in carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, including the 304/316 executions used in food and chemical plants. ElectricalCabinet has built electrical enclosures since 2010, delivering more than 4,000 projects for industrial clients. Our fabrication covers CNC punching, bending, and welding, with custom cutouts, sizes, and surface finishes built to your drawings. Removable side panels, interchangeable doors, adjustable mounting angles, and joining kits make them reconfigurable as your installation grows.

What is a Free Standing Electrical Enclosure ?

A free-standing electrical enclosure is a completely enclosed electrical enclosure that protects large electronic equipment and controllers. It is intended to be used on basic, flat floor surfaces.

It has equivalent legs that lift and fasten the cage from below. The free-standing electrical unit would be ideal, especially when working with a system that requires compound mounting arrangements.

What special configurations does a free-standing electrical enclosure have?

A broad range of free-standing electrical enclosures comes with distinct configurations, which is used as key references for its overall system appearances:

  • It features single or dual doors that correlate with a detachable center post construction that hangs on the specific equipment installation required.
  • Durable and simple to install hinges that allow for excellent axial rotation and unrestricted pivotal motion.
  • Includes conventional clamps with individual hasp and staple.
  • Simple 3-point latch mechanism with a strong handle.
  • Turn in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
  • Fully welded high legs stand at the bottom.
  • Provides detachable center posts for double-door configuration.
  • The rear panel may be easily mounted.
  • Customized flanges and locking mechanisms.
  • The door gasket has been sealed.
  • Eyebolts for hoisting.

Preguntas frecuentes

Free-standing or wall mount for my control system?

Component count and weight decide it: once your assembly outgrows roughly a meter of panel space or carries heavy drives and transformers, a free-standing bay is safer and more serviceable. Wall boxes win for distributed I/O and small controls.

Can free-standing enclosures be joined into multi-bay suites?

Yes — bays bolt together side by side with removable cover strips, sharing cable space between sections. Line-ups are standard for MCC and automation suites and can be extended later.

What materials suit food or chemical plants?

304 stainless steel covers most wash-down areas, with 316 specified where chlorides or aggressive chemicals are present. We ground all seams smooth on hygienic executions.

How are they shipped and moved on site?

Cabinets ship individually crated with lifting points for crane or forklift handling; the base plinth accepts pallet trucks. Site joining and leveling data comes with the delivery.
