Packaging machine control panels may coordinate conveyors, filling, sealing, labeling, motion, sensors, drives, and operator interfaces. The specification should define the machine sequence and interface responsibilities rather than rely on a generic packaging label.
Define the machine sequence
Record modes, recipes or changeover requirements supplied by the customer, motors, drives, servos, sensors, valves, actuators, alarms, HMI tasks, and upstream/downstream signals. Separate ordinary control from safety functions and identify the machine builder’s responsibilities.
Panel design inputs
Capture power, grounding, network, I/O, cable entry, enclosure environment, heat, access, labeling, documentation, and maintenance. Keep the HMI, PLC, motion, and component data synchronized with the electrical drawings.
Checklist
- Machine sequence, modes, changeover, and responsibility matrix.
- PLC, HMI, drives, motion, sensors, valves, and alarms.
- Power, grounding, environment, heat, cable entry, and service.
- Drawings, labels, manuals, spares, and revision records.
