I progettisti devono proteggere i componenti elettronici ed elettrici da umidit\u00e0, polvere e altri agenti inquinanti. <br><br>Ecco perch\u00e9 le custodie elettriche sono classificate in base alla loro capacit\u00e0 di resistere a diversi elementi ambientali, tra cui polvere, acqua e ghiaccio.&nbsp;<br><br>Il produttore di involucri deve fornire, su richiesta, i risultati dei test per comprovare la classificazione. Poich\u00e9 i test richiedono tempo e denaro, i produttori di solito non utilizzano le classificazioni NEMA e IP per le custodie. La comprensione dei sistemi di classificazione consente di affermare con sicurezza che un involucro classificato NEMA offre la stessa protezione di un involucro classificato IP e viceversa.
