A VFD enclosure must account for drive losses, ambient conditions, wiring, separation, access, and the rest of the control system. The design brief should define inputs before selecting a cooling approach or cabinet size.
Define the drive system
Record motor and load data supplied by the engineer, drive quantity, duty, bypass, input and output cables, braking or filtering requirements, control signals, network, protection, and maintenance access. Do not infer a drive rating from a cabinet photograph.
Review heat and layout
Capture drive losses, ambient temperature, solar exposure, enclosure location, component spacing, airflow, cable bend radius, grounding, EMC requirements supplied by the project, door access, and service clearance. Any cooling calculation or product rating must be tied to the selected model and final configuration.
